Methods of Use
BALNEO BATH
Balneotherapy involves the treatment of disharmony by bathing. It may involve hot or cold water, massage via moving water, relaxation or stimulation. Water rich in minerals can be absorbed via the skin. A simple home remedy mix can be made with Sea Salt and your favorite essential oil blend in a bath.
Fill the tub with five inches of water. Next, mix in one handful of Sea Salt and twenty drops of the desired blend into the water. Swirl the water around after the tub is full to mix the ingredients and test the water temperature for comfort.
HUMIDIFIER
This process diffuses the scent of the essential oils throughout the room slowly over a period of time as well as adding moisture into the air. It can be utilized in the relief of cold and sinus congestion symptoms by adding the therapeutic oils to the water or as a means of providing a continuous aroma to the air utilizing your essential oil blend of choice. Follow the device instructions for use and filling of water. Add 10-15 drops of the blend to the water reservoir cup provided with the machine.
INHALATION
The easiest way to enjoy essential oils is by inhalation. There are several ways to utilize this method and decide which works best for you. Apply a drop to your first finger tip and rub between the thumb and forefinger then, hold underneath your nose and inhale. You can also place a drop in the palm of your hand, rub hands together then, cup over your nose and inhale. Placing a few drops on a tissue or handkerchief is a great way to keep the scent around for hours. Additionally, you can place several drops in a cup of steaming water and inhale the oils as they vaporize.
ROOM DIFFUSION
This method may be utilized in the home or office environment using an Aromatherapy diffuser. These devices provide longer periods of oil diffusion time and many cover hundreds of square feet of space. There are several different types of diffusers available. Follow the devices instructions for use then, add your favorite blend to diffuse.
TOPICAL
Many essential oils are safe to apply directly to the skin. If you have never used essential oils before, a good way to test the oils compatibility with your body for first time use is to apply one dab to the bottom of your foot. If no reaction in 2 hours time, (which you should not expect to have) proceed with use.
Start by applying 1-2 drops of the essential oil to wrist, forearm, or ankle/lower leg area one to two times per day after compatibility is established. You can increase use as desired after a few days if well tolerated.
When applying essential oils to children, dilute in carrier oil such as pure olive oil. Add 10-15 drops of the essential oil to one ounce of desired carrier oil and shake well.
Follow the application instructions above for first time use. Containers best used for housing essential oils mixed with carrier oils are glass or some type of earth ware. Plastics can leach particles from the container into the oil and these may be carried into the skin.
Keep all essential oils away from eyes.
